Adventures in column writing
Although the bu
lk of my work in newspapers has taken the form of breaking news and narrative feature stories, I occasionally get to dip my toe into the refreshing waters of column writing.
Some examples:
* “New decades holds a diagnosis and a lesson” (March 3, 2009, The Post-Standard, Syracuse, NY).
* “Crowds or not, history is calling” and “Yes She Did! Crowd-hater Laura T. Ryan has the time of her life in a sea of humanity” (Jan. 18 and 29, The Post-Standard, Syracuse, NY).
* “Scares that last a lifetime” (Oct. 26, 2008, The Post-Standard, Syracuse, NY).
* “Tickets were there for the asking” (Feb. 1, 2008, The Post-Standard, Syracuse, NY).
* “End note” (Sept. 26, 2007, Healthy CNY/The Post-Standard, Syracuse, NY).
